The Centre for Cell Biology, Development, and Disease (C2D2) was co-founded in 2014 by Drs. Michael Silverman and Michel Leroux as an interdisciplinary research Centre whose primary purpose is to “promote cell and developmental biology research and education as it relates to health and disease.” (see the original Charter document (PDF) for establishing C2D2, which includes its major functions). Starting with 25 faculty members across multiple Faculty of Science Departments, namely Biological Sciences, Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology, Chemistry, Physics and Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, C2D2 has grown to encompass 40 members and representation from the Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Applied Sciences.
