As part of the SIAT (School of interactive arts and technology) design team, I design and help propose a lot of ideas for products that help promote SIAT. having products ready for first year university students is particularly important because it builds moral and interest in participation for the coming years. More particularly, I were able to design SIAT specific notebooks for the first year students within our faculty providing them with a unique start to their academic careers. I was the Graphic designer on the team.

As something that was never been done before, this year the faculty agreed to provide leather (or pleather) notebooks to their students, a product that is very common within the student toolkits for the run of the mill SIAT student. Through inspiration that derived from my own appreciation of how readings and books changes to the reader as they age, the design embodies symbols that every SIAT student can relate only when they are further along in their time are the schoo. I hope that when they are further along in their academic careers they are able to recognizes the thoughtfulness of the design.
Originally designed to be a clipboard folder, the design was adapted and altered to fit on the notebooks. Alternatively the design can easily be altered as a pattern for other uses as well. The final product was pressed onto a silver coloured notebooks to co-ordinate with existing marketing materials.
