Dr. Siamak Arzanpour received his PhD. from Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2006. After two years of research as a Postdoctoral Fellow he joined School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering at Simon Fraser University in 2008.
He has years of experience in dynamic systems modeling, signal processing, modern control, intelligent systems, and the application of machine learning in signal processing, system identification, and control. Since joining SFU he applied his expertise in a variety of research subjects with practical applications. More specifically, he focused on developing novel engineering methods and solutions for both industrial and medical devices applications. As a result, he collaborated with several established companies (GM, Rocky Montain Bicycles, Toyo Pumps, …) as well as local start ups (Pacificure Biomedical, SOC Robotics, MetaOptima, …).
Dr. Arzanpour is also actively involved in commercialization and technology transfer of some of the concepts that has been developed by his research team. He is one of the co-founders of MobiSafe Systems, an SFU spinoff, focused on commercialization of a reusable airbag system for wheelchair application. He is also one of the co-founders of Human in Motion Robotics, another SFU spinoff, which aims to develop a full range of motion exoskeleton system to assist people with motion disability to walk naturally and independently.
