Electronic Bulletin Board Aims

The e Tasks form a part of the coursework for 20th Century Architecture and Landscapes subject. This course is primarily concerned with changing forms, and ‘forms of thinking’, in the environmental design disciplines since the 19th century. Its first aim is to place these various ideas and forms, and theories about them, in a coherent historical framework. Through such a framework we will discern some of the temporal, spatial, critical and cultural relationships between these forms and ideas that might enhance our understanding of them.

By using the electronic bulletin board as a tool for use in the e Tasks, the assignments aim to help you to

  • begin positioning yourself, critically and empathetically, within this framework with regard to the past and present design discourses that inspire you.
  • further develop skills in articulating issues, themes and strategies of environmental design that you began to work with in your first year subjects.
