ASCII error question

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this error:

2010-08-27 10:50:41,118 INFO  [btpool0-21993] [name=aw137@mail.gatech.edu;mid=40570;ip=130.207.185.228;ua=ZimbraWebClient - IE7 (Win)/5.0.23_GA_3242.RHEL5_64;] account - domain [oit.gatech.edu'] cannot be converted to ASCII

We have established a correlation between the presence/quantity of this error and user complaints of slowness in the web client. Per a post in the Zimbra Forum this was attributed to the clients browser.  This does not seem to be the case from our observations.

Anyone seen this before, know what causes it?
