TERMINOLOGY
- NMR: nuclear magnetic resonance.
- Bruker600 MHz Spectrometer
- HDL: high density lipoprotein
- LDL: low density lipoprotein
- VLDL: very low density lipoprotein
The human serum lipoproteins (points 3, 4 and 5) are complexes for the transport of cholesterol and triglycerides from the liver, and to a lesser extent from the large intestine, to peripheral tissue. HDL is inversely, and LDL directly, correlated with the risk of coronary heart disease.
- LCAT: Lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase (enzyme)
- LPL: Lipoprotein lipase (enzyme)
- apoA-I: apolipoprotein A-I
- apoC-I: apolipoprotein C-I
- apoC-II: apolipoprotein C-II
- [15N,13C] Labels
- NOESY: nuclear Overhauser enhanced spectroscopy
