This month’s lunch is proudly hosted in partnership with the Indigenous Student Centre, First Nations, Métis & Inuit Student Association, and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, all dedicated to fostering connections and sharing opportunities at SFU.

We have some exciting activities planned to keep you entertained, including an open mic where you can showcase your talents and embrace the Halloween spirit! Plus, we’re thrilled to offer a vaccine clinic on-site, so you can enjoy the festivities while taking care of your health—just remember to bring your Care Card.

You’re Invited to the Indigenous Welcome Feast on September 13th!

Join us as we honour our Indigenous students as they embark on this new semester. This special event, hosted in partnership with the Indigenous Student Centre, First Nations, Métis & Inuit Student Association, and Indigenous Student Recruitment & Admissions, aims to foster connections and provide valuable insights into the university experience.

The Welcome Feast offers an excellent opportunity for new students to explore a range of programs and resources designed to support their academic journey and personal growth. Attendees will have the chance to meet and engage with faculty, staff, and fellow students, helping to build a strong and supportive community right from the start.

Don’t miss this chance to start the semester off in a good way, connect with others, and learn more about the resources available to you. We look forward to celebrating with you and helping you navigate your path at the university.

This Month's Lunch will feature selections from the new SFU Rooted menu. Chef Steph Baryluk has created a menu inspired by Indigenous flavours; birch syrup salmon, bison stew, bannock and Three Sisters salad are a few of the treats we will be sharing. What better way to celebrate Pi Day (a few days late) than by enjoying pie! Come join us for this Month's Lunch, hosted by the Faculty of Applies Science. This event is for all students, faculty and staff who self-identify as Indigenous at SFU. Join us from 11:30am to 1:30pm to enjoy a meal, lots of pie and network with some amazing Indigenous folks.

This event is for all students, faculty and staff who self-identify as Indigenous at SFU. Join us from 11:30am to 1:30pm to enjoy a meal, hear about current initiatives around campus and network with some amazing Indigenous folks. We want to welcome Indigenous staff and students and take time to make connections. Lunch will be provided by West Coast Bannock.

No tricks just treats. The SFU ISC and FNMISA hosted the November SFU Indigenous Community Monthly Lunch. This event is for all students, faculty and staff who self-identify as Indigenous at SFU. We gathered from 11:30am to 1:30pm to enjoy a meal, hear about current initiatives around campus and network with some amazing Indigenous folks. We want to welcome Indigenous staff and students and take time to make connections. Lunch will include sushi, pizza and of course bannock.

This month's lunch was co-hosted by the SFU Indigenous Studies Department. This event included students, faculty and staff who self-identify as Indigenous at SFU. We learned about some great opportunities to take part in Indigenous Studies Courses, played a fun game testing our Indigenous author knowledge and heard from many Elders in the community.

The Indigenous Student Centre and First Nations, Métis & Inuit Student Association hosted Indigenous students, staff and Elders for this months lunch. While getting to know one another and socialize with the community we ate bannock tacos and played human bingo! 

All those who self-identify as Indigenous at SFU were invited to this Monthly Lunch, and there was a great turn out! Co-hosted by the Department of Psychology's Indigenous Reconcilliation Committee, they shared about numerous opportunities within their department. This lunch was student centered, giving students the chance to meet various faculty and staff.

The Office of Indigenous Education co-hosted the second SFU Indigenous Community Monthly Lunch, to celebrate Halloween. Attendees shared in a meal from the Bannock Queen to hear about current initiatives around campus and network with some amazing Indigenous folks. Not to mention the fun games and costume contest, where students won prizes!

The Indigenous Student Centre and First Nations, Métis & Inuit Student Association hosted the inaugural SFU Indigenous Community Monthly Lunch, for all those who self-identify as Indigenous at SFU. While enjoying some food from Salishan Catering, attendees heard about current initiatives around campus and networked with some amazing Indigenous folks. This September, the lunch focused on honouring the healing journeys of Residential School survivors and their families, asking everyone to please wear an orange shirt.
