BC Provincial Tuition Waiver Program


The Provincial Tuition Waiver Program (PTWP) waives tuition and fees for BC students who are former youth in care studying full-time or part-time at the undergraduate level. As of August 1, 2023, the PTWP is open to former youth in care of any age.

If your accumulated time in care is less than the two year requirement, but still over one year, please send an email to the SFU YIC Manager at fiassist@sfu.ca for further assistance.

Application Process

To apply for the BC Provincial Tuition Waiver Program, complete the following two forms and return them to the Financial Aid and Awards office in person or by email (fiassist@sfu.ca):

  2. SFU Provincial Tuition Waiver Program Authorization for Release of Information

Students enrolled in courses through SFU Continuing Studies should contact SFU Continuing Studies directly, as they use their own process for the BC PTWP.

Applying to SFU

Submitting your application to study at SFU requires you to pay the application fee.  If you are prevented from submitting your application due to financial reasons, please reach out to us at fiassist@sfu.ca. We can help guide you through applying for the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program and discuss your options for help with your Application Fee and Admission Deposit for eligible students.
