Description: This video poem takes inspiration from Rita Wong’s poem “Take A St. And” and was created for the Vancouver City Poems Project. The poet, Wong, raises concern for the streams covered by the urban landscape and strives to preserve its history and remains. The film captures the scenic view of the St. George neighbourhood and at the mouth of False Creek, both located in Vancouver, BC.

Using film footage and 2D hand-drawn animation techniques, the video highlights the negative aspects of urbanization by showing how pavement is covering up the streams. It also highlights positive movements from the St. George community, who want to bring water back into the neighbourhood to coexist and find a balance with urbanization.
