SFU STEM Outreach Collective
The SFU STEM Outreach Collective is a collection of SFU groups that are focused on promoting outreach and engagement within the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Representatives from these groups meet once a semester in order to keep each other updated on upcoming events, collaborate, and brainstorm ways to make STEM more accessible for all.
Current members of the STEM Outreach Collective include:
WWEST - Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology
Science AL!VE - student-run, not-for-profit organization based at SFU that provide opportunities for youth to explore science through hands-on, interactive discovery
Science in Action - offers educational programs to BC high school and elementary students, First Nations communities, and the general public at the SFU Burnaby campus
Math Catcher - introduces mathematics and science to Aboriginal students through the use of First Nations imagery and storytelling
Let's Talk Science - connects educators and youth with volunteers to deliver a wide variety of free STEM learning experiences in both school and community settings
Girls Exploring Physics - a twice-yearly physics workshop for girls in grades 9 and 10 run by the Department of Physics
FAS Outreach Programs - outreach initiatives designed to engage diverse communities and spark a life-long passion for engineering and technology
