To advance its reputation as a leader in business education, SFU will open western Canada's first dedicated centre for graduate management education in a distinguished heritage building in the heart of Vancouver's downtown financial district.
The Segal Graduate School of Business is named for SFU chancellor emeritus Joseph Segal, the donor of the former Bank of Montreal headquarters. Originally constructed in 1916, the building is now under renovation. When completed in 2004, the new Segal School will offer a distinctive venue for scholars, students, and business and industry leaders to come together to explore the latest management ideas. It will feature unique graduate programs, such as the Management of Technology MBA and the MBA in Global Asset & Wealth Management. In addition, it will offer customized executive education training programs, and specialized centres of research focused on emerging areas such as biotechnology leadership and sustainable enterprise.
As North America's gateway to the Pacific Rim, Vancouver has strong connections with international business, and will be well served by a locally based, dedicated centre for graduate management studies delivering the latest business research and information. The new Segal Centre will complement and strengthen SFU's presence in downtown Vancouver, and is certain to enhance and enliven British Columbia's economic activity and global reputation.
