Abstract: Endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) are retroviral sequences that are encoded in all of our genomes and make up 8 % of the genome. ERVs are expressed during disease including cancer, autoimmunity, and infection and can contribute to disease. Our lab is interested in uncovering immunomodulatory functions of ERVs in the context of autoimmunity and viral infection to gain better mechanistic understanding of how they impact outcomes of disease. Ultimately, we seek to leverage this knowledge for therapeutic purposes. -
