Computer Services at IRMACS
The IRMACS computing environment consists of over 90 desktop computers, a high-performance fileserver on which researcher's data resides (backed up nightly), and a high-performance network. All of the desktop computers are centrally configured, providing IRMACS users with consistent access to software and their data across all computers, both in the labs and in the IRMACS meeting rooms. Each desktop computer has a range of research-oriented software installed. In addition to these research tools each computer has a full suite of software development tools.
IRMACS also runs a wide range of servers, virtual machines, and computational resources that researchers can utilize for running scientific software and hosting web services (research web sites, scientific data portals, and scientific gateways).
