- November 7, 2014: Congratulations to Dr. Liz Cooper on the publication of a book which she co-edited with David Pratten of the University of Oxford: Ethnographies of Uncertainty in Africa, published by Palgrave Macmillan. In addition to their co-authored introduction chapter, the book contains a chapter by Dr. Cooper, entitled: 'Charity and Chance: The Manufacture of Uncertainty and Mistrust through Child Sponsorship in Kenya'.

- October 27, 2014: Congratulations to Simons Chair Jeff Checkel, who has been awarded a Humboldt Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany! The prize is granted to academics whose 'fundamental discoveries, new theories, or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements in the future.' It provides funds for Checkel to spend up to a year cooperating on a long-term research project with specialist colleagues in Germany, in this case, at the Free University Berlin.

- October 9, 2014: Citations to articles in the CJDS/la Revue , which is edited at SIS, rose notably in 2013, according to the Web of Science’s Journal Citation Reports (JCR). The journal’s Impact Factor rose from 0.138 in 2012 to 0.776 in 2013. This puts CJDS in the #6 ranking among the 79 Canadian social science journals assessed by JCR in 2013. Feldman is a political anthropologist interested in the state, globalization, migration, and population regulation. He is also a founding board member of the Vancouver Society for the Promotion of the Liberal Arts.
- June 18, 2014: A very warm congratulations to King Cordova Albaña, recipient of the 2013/14 Best Undergraduate International Studies Essay Award. The winning essay titled 'Domestic Security at the Expense of International Rights' was written for Nicole Jackson's IS 409 Security Studies course.
