Vegetation is very diverse in Africa, ranging from tropical rainforests to grasslands to deserts.  To minimize destruction of sensitive areas such as rainforests I assigned higher friction values to sensitive areas.

Methodology

• After reprojecting "veg" to a more suitable projection called "veg2", I edited values and called them "landsuitability".
• This is weighted by vegetation type because some vegetation is more suited to farming than others.
• I used ASSIGN module on "veg2" to produce "landvegfuzz" to weigh the vegetation on the Continent by type.
