Average Annual Wave Heights for Washington Coast

As was mentioned earlier, there is a relationship between the zones of higher wind speeds, and the zones of higher wave heights. The presence of larger waves on the west coast of Washington is understandable. Longer 'Fetch' or the distance that the wind is able to travel unimpeded translates into higher waves. The area in the North West corner of the Olympic Peninsula is also susceptible to high waves.
