This analysis uses the theory of multi-criteria evaluation to determine the potential location of a solar power plant on the island of Oahu. The theory uses different layers of map overlaying on top of each other to derive the most suitable location. The layers of map serve as the criteria for the analysis. These layers can be constraints which uses Boolean logic that either allows or denies the development of a power plant at a specific location. Other layers can be used as factors to determine the suitability of an area for solar power plant development on a sliding scale. The analysis will be done on IDRISI Kilimanjaro whereas the data will be collected in the form of ArcGIS vector format which would require data manipulation because the data can be used in IDRISI. The ideal area to build the solar power plant has to exceed 100 hectares for it to worth while for the state to develop the power plant. |
