The Vancouver Institute Of Leprechaun Research
A Spatial
Analysis of Leprechaun Habitat and Movement in the GVRD
Leprechauns have inhabited Ireland
and the
British Isles for thousands of years, but only recently has any
research
been done on the distribution of leprechauns throughout North America.
Dr.
Patty O’Furniture started the Vancouver Institute of Leprechaun
Research
in 2001 to study the habitat and movements of these tiny creatures.
With
the use of GIS, Dr. O’Furniture has been able to locate the most
suitable
habitat throughout the GVRD in which to find Leprechauns living as well
as
the pathways that are most often used by leprechauns when they travel
outside
of their habitat.
This site has been organized in such a way as to
show the criteria for the analysis, the data sources, the methods that
were used, the results of the analysis, and the problems encountered
when such a study is undertaken. There is also a useful section
presenting some background information
on the study as well as on Leprechauns themselves.
