Using Canvas communication tools
Announcements are an important communication channel to connect with students about various logistics of your course or post urgent notifications. You can also communicate with students about course-related activities, events, or topics. To make an announcement:
1. Click Announcements
2. Click + Announcement
3. Enter a subject and description.
4. Click Save.
Your announcement will be posted. If students have their notifications turned on to view announcements in their inbox, they will receive a copy there. If your course is unpublished students will not receive their notifications until the course becomes published.
Using Canvas Inbox
Canvas Inbox is a frequently used built-in email tool, also referred to as Conversations in Canvas. As a global tool, the Inbox displays all messages from all your courses, but you can easily filter messages by course. The Inbox can be used to receive emails from students or TAs or send emails to the whole class, a group of students, or an individual student.
