Biography
I am a consulting archaeologist who has worked throughout British Columbia since 2013. Since 2015, I have had the fortune to work in the Lower Mainland with both səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil Waututh) and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) First Nations. I am the sole proprietor of a small archaeology firm, K. VanderMeer Archaeology, and I am currently working with Brown and Oakes Archaeology, primarily in Kwikwetlem territory. I am an Associate member of the BCAPA (British Columbia Association of Professional Archaeologists) and both a Coastal and Interior Field Director.
MA Research
I intend to investigate archaeological potential modelling and how it is applied to urban environments, with a specific focus on how extensive land modification can impact assessments of potential. I plan to use the Riverview Lands in Coquitlam, BC as a case study.
Other Activities
Outside of work I can be found baking bread, visiting local brewpubs, playing board games, and eating ice cream with my kiddo.
