Study on the Dissolution Dynamics of Bauxite at High Temperature

ABSTRACT  In this paper, the dissolution behavior if quartz in soda aluminate liquor was investigated. The experiments were carried out in different free caustic concentrations and under different temperature. During digestion process of quartz, caustic alumni and silica concentration were analyzed, and silica concentration curves were given. In the meanwhile, the quantity of acid-soluble silicon in the red mud was analyzed and quartz dissolution curves were given too. On the basis of these results, the various effects of quartz on diaspore digestion process were discussed, and some reasonable methods which can eliminate the effects were suggested of calcium with the addition lime.

The dissoluble behavior of rutile in Bayer Liquor was also studied. The acid-soluble titanium in the red mud was analyzed. Rutile dissolutions curves were given, different free caustic concentration and under different temperatures and the mechanism of rutile digestion was discussed and deduced.
