Applicants are normally required to hold an undergraduate degree in one of the urban studies base disciplines (economics, geography, political science, sociology and anthropology). Applications from students with other degrees or with equivalent professional training and experience will also be considered.

Admission decisions will be based on undergraduate grades (normally, a GPA of 3.0 is required), a one-page statement of student interest in the program, and letters of reference.

Applications are invited for study beginning in the Fall (September) and Spring (January) semesters. As there is no fixed application deadline, early applications are encouraged as space is limited. A downloadable copy of the application form can be found at www.sfu.ca/deangradstudies/

1. Application for admission to Graduate Studies and a $75 non-refundable cheque or money order payable to Simon Fraser University.
2. Statement of interest in the program (1 page)
3. Official transcript of undergraduate grades from all universities/colleges attended (mailed directly from the granting institution).
4. Three confidential letters of reference, of which at least one must be from an academic source (mailed directly from the referee).
5. Resume/Curriculum Vitae.
6. TOEFL and TWE test scores (if required). Please refer to the Dean of Graduate Studies website (www.sfu.ca/dean-gradstudies) for more information.
