Prospective Students
Thank you for your interest in my Laboratory. I always look for qualified graduate students to join my research team. Please note that I currently have no funding for incoming graduate students.
To be considered for the Simon Fraser University (SFU)
School of Engineering Science (ENSC)
graduate program
you need to meet SFU admission requirements:
Academic Competence
English Language Competence.
If your first language is not English, you need to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language
(TOEFL).
We do not require that you take the General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test.
Before you apply and pay admission fees, please note that the School of Engineering Science at SFU does not accept self-funded Ph.D. students. Before you proceed, you are advised to ensure that you have a guarantee from a faculty member that he/she will provide minimum funding required by the School of Engineering Science:
Without such a guarantee, your application will be automatically rejected by the School of Engineering Science Graduate Chair and the SFU Dean of Graduate Studies irrespective of recommendation from a faculty member or a proof that you have your own funding (including government fellowships).
If you remain interested in joining my laboratory, please let me know when your application is complete and I will be glad to review your application.
Please note that you will have to secure financial support if you wish your application to be successful. Please send to the ENSC Graduate Program Assistant (enscgsec@sfu.ca) any documents that you may have showing that you have a government fellowship during your intended studies at SFU.

Funding information:
The School of Engineering Science can nominate incoming students to a variety of competition-based Entrance Scholarships, however, you should be aware that the School can only nominate one student and this is adjudicated upon by a committee of professors. As such, it is highly encouraged to incoming graduate students that THEY NOT budget for the successful receipt of these scholarships. Once admitted to the School, graduate students are eligible to apply for Teaching Assistantships (TAs), however, these are also competition-based (amongst all graduate students in the School) and hence are not guaranteed.
Listed are links that might be useful to you regarding the costs associated with being a graduate student at SFU and some of the funding available (almost all of these are competition based and you SHOULD NOT budget for receipt when determining your finances):
