Seattle fault - Marine terrace uplifted by earthquake
LIDAR image of the south end of Bainbridge Island, west of Seattle, showing the trace of the Seattle fault. Rupture on this fault about 1000 years ago lifted an intertidal platform 7 m out of the sea. Displacement on the fault triggered a large tsunami in Puget Sound.
