Engineers Canada, in collaboration with the 12 provincial and territorial engineering regulators, has committed to raise the percentage of newly licensed engineers who are women to 30 per cent by the year 2030. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) qualifications are currently in high demand with 70% of top jobs requiring STEM education, and this trend will continue to rise.

Raising the number of women in STEM careers helps address concerns of access to a broader talent base, and studies have found that gender balanced teams are more likely to experiment, share knowledge and fulfill tasks, which ultimately can lead to innovation and economic prosperity. Building on a popular Lunch and Learn event in Whitehorse in June 2017, this workshop will present strategies to improve workplace culture and retention of diverse talent.

Light snacks will be provided.
