Everyday Choreographies: in Pictures

October 26, 2016

How does the city orchestrate a set of quiet, everyday choreographies? How are dance artists refiguring these mobile arrangements? How does the project of choreography — of directing bodies — resonate with broader ethical concerns about moving and being moved?

Alana Gerecke and Justine A. Chambers asked these questions at a talk they gave last week at SFU Woodward’s to examine the city as choreographic force. Prior to the talk, the two led participants on a short silent choreography walk, asking them to pay close attention to how they moved through and were moved by the city.
