CMNS Peer Mentors (First Year Experience)

The School of Communications Peer Mentor Program aims to provide a positive and supportive environment for new students to learn and grow while they transition to SFU. As a Mentor, your own experience will play an integral role in helping welcome and support new students. Mentors will enhance the sense of belonging and connectedness among new students and promote academic resources to assist new students in their transition and overall success in their degree. Main responsibilities include providing face-to-face and online support to mentees; assisting with special events and workshops for new and prospective students; attending info sessions to share your student experience; and being an active and enthusiastic mentor for the School of Communication and the Faculty of Communications, Art and Technology. Mentors will also benefit personally from this experience as they gain leadership and communication skills and build upon volunteer skills to enhance their career objectives.
