The graduate certificate in history offers training to students for careers as educators, researchers, and professionals in fields that value primary-source research, writing, and critical analysis of the past and present. Students gain expertise in historiography and historical methods; engage with, interpret and evaluate historical evidence as well as theoretical, conceptual, and ideological perspectives; and learn disciplined reading, writing, research, and oral communication skills essential to the independent and collaborative tasks desired in varied professional and community settings.
