REEL 79 COMMENTARY
1. This gives an over"view" of the official civic ceremony from a distance. The hotel room was on the fifth floor. Traffic surrounds the ceremony at all times. All the following sounds therefore "accompanied" by continuous traffic roar. At 4'00" drums and bugle begin (some interesting wind modulations). 6'40" excited dog gets into the act. 7'45" drums out. 8'15" National Anthem, brisk tempo. 9'15" Amplified voice, barely audible, giving service. 10'35" Hymn (0 God Our Help in Ages Past). 11'35" Hymn out, muscle car throbs in/out. 12'20" gunfire, followed by hymn tune. 13'20" gunfire, and taps (built into hymn tune). 14'20" gunfire, distant roar of jet. 15'20" aircraft, guns, loud car or truck. 16'00" gunfire, p.a. voice barely audible. 16'10" "Present Arms". 16'20" gunfire, more commands. 16'30" National Anthem again. 17'20" gunfire. 18'30" hymn tune. 19'20" gunfire, hymn continues. 20'20" gunfire, hymn continues. 21'00" recordist enters room. 22'20" gunfire. 22'35" hymn.2. 1'00" gunfire. 2'00" gunfire, followed by hymn (Abide with Me). 3'00" gunfire, hymn continues. 4'00" gunfire, hymn finished. 4'40" dog barking. 5'00" gunfire and commands followed by drums. 6'00" gunfire. 6'45" heavy drums begin, march off. 7'00" gunfire, drums stop; back to normal ambience to end. 15'45" recordist enters room.
3. This was kept on during the two minutes of "silence" (playing the theme from "Exodus"), CFMQ moozak piped into lobby; other noises: cash register, elevator bell, background ventilation. Bad noise on left channel (1'00").
