REEL 37 COMMENTARY
1. No good, level changes throughout, or wind in microphone.5. Recordists standing inside the cab, fairly quiet ride except for rattling over rails.
6. Bell ringing and a generally loud hum.
7. Very loud.
8. Rain in a grove of beech trees, recorded from car. Cars passing: 2'25", 2'55", 3'05". Rain and wind fluctuate in intensity. On the whole, there is a gradual build-up of wind and rain getting stronger. It is a nice gradual crescendo to end of take, where weather has become really wild.
10. 1 minute of introduction, J. Murphy giving names of songs. See data sheet for these. A Ukelin is a cross between a ukelele and a violin.
11. Johnny M. introducing his autoharp, at beginning. See data sheet again for names of songs.
12. Song "Tommy's Dream", composed in Cape Breton. Great, funky, untuned stuff. Followed by talk about the instruments (3'00") at end of take.
