Volley Theory

An hypothesis about the functioning of the nerves in the organ of Corti in response to excitation. Since each nerve fibre can transmit only up to about 1000 impulses per second, two or more nerves must combine and synchronize their firing of impulses into order to encode all of the incoming information, particularly high frequency stimuli.
