Psychoacoustics / Electroacoustics |
In the perception of acoustic space, azimuth refers to the direction or angular displacement of a sound in the horizontal plane.
See: Binaural Hearing, Kunstkopf, Minimum Audible Angle. Compare: Projicience, Stereoacusis.
In tape recording, the term also refers to the alignment of a recording or playback head such that it is in uniform contact with tape passing over it. See diagram under magnetic tape.
