Good diffusion
results in an even or "uniform" spread of sound
energy in a space. This makes it desirable for sound to
be heard clearly in all regions of that space. A diffuse sound field exhibits that property as well because of the multiple reflections that occur within it. However, if the amount of reflected energy is very large, it may be counterproductive to, for instance, speech communication. |
