The delay gets
shorter and the cancelled frequencies ascend
exponentially. Even though the noise is synthetic, it
might well remind you of a jet taking off. The key
elements are the moving broad-band sound, and the
presence of a strong reflection off the runway below. In fact, the effect is sometimes called jet sounds, particularly with electronic sounds. And given that the cancelled frequencies ascend as does the jet, the effect is readily associated with take-offs. Something similar occurs in the downwards direction during landing. |
