biography
How do we utilize methods and theory to understand our world, gather evidence, reveal inequalities and power, and see the impact of oppression? Questions such as this have framed my teaching and research for the past 25 years. I enjoy teaching the foundations of Sociology including quantitative methods and theory. My main research interests are public education policy and curriculum development. I also engage in Public Sociology and have been Principal Investigator on numerous community research projects in the Fraser Valley that in include Fraser Health, the Chilliwack School District, and the Chilliwack Social Planning and Research Council. I am currently a data consultant to the Community Health and Social Innovation (CHASI) Hub at the University of the Fraser Valley and until recently was an Associate professor in the department of Social, Cultural and Media Studies at UFV. I am very pleased to contribute to the program at SFU by teaching SA 355.
