Congratulations to the 2025 FASS 3MT winner - Madelyn Prevost!

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is thrilled to share that our PhD student in Anthropology, Madelyn Prevost, recently competed in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition — and secured First Place!
The 3MT challenges graduate students to explain the breadth and impact of their research into a clear and engaging three-minute presentation with just one slide.
Madelyn’s winning presentation, titled "Weaving Threads; Making Worlds," explores the work of fibre artists — including spinners, weavers, dyers, knitters, felters, and stitchers — focusing on the relationship between artisanal labour and place, and the ethical projects encompassed by artisanal labour.
Madelyn will now advance to the university-wide competition on April 10, where she will compete against winners from the wildcard heat and other faculty heats. A win there would secure her a spot at the Western Regionals and possibly the National Competition.
