WHAT IS EUNOIA?

A two week in person UX Design Hackathon, Eunoia is created by students for students, to compete and collaborate on a team with design mentors to create non-code based UX design solutions for real clients.

OBJECTIVE & ROLE

To create unique, identifiable and charismatic branding appealing to hackathon participants (fellow designers).

My role was to create versatile illustrations that could be applied across the hackathon’s branding: including website, merchandise and social media content.

IMAGE GROUPINGS

Using our objective as a jumping off point, we individually created mood board image groupings to establish how this design goal may translate to a typographic and illustrative space. Then collaboratively discussed and decided on paths to focus on and iterate off of.

FINALIZED BRAND GUIDE

After months of participating in an iterative process of exploring and ideating possible design directions, our creative designer, Aliasger Rasheed, presented us with the finalized constraints and overall branding guidelines for Eunoia.

ITERATIONS

Using Figma and applying the Eunoia defined brand constraints, I created multiple iterations of differing icons. Each icon was created by applying defined components to a precise grid, in order to create consistent and visually related illustrations.

Based on critique and feedback each icon was refined to fit both the content of Eunoia and maintain cohesive illustrative identity.

FINAL ILLUSTRATIONS

Illustrations I created that were used within the Eunoia website, merchandise and social media channels.

MERCHANDISE APPLICATION

Application of my illustrations on real-life products (lanyards & totebags) that were given to all Eunoia participants. Illustrations used for merchandise include: snail, cloud, fire and ufo.

PROJECT TAKEAWAYS

Working as a designer for Eunoia taught me the importance of ideation prior to design, in order to have strong concepts and rationale to justify the finalized work. Eunoia also showed me the importance of verstitile design, and how to consider design applications within a variety of contexts, both physically and digitally.

The accomplishments and success of the Eunoia branding was due to our teamwork and collaboration. Throughout the entire process, by switching between working individually and regrouping collaboratively, I became aware of how iteration and critique is essential in refining deliverables and overall creates stonger design.
