Wonderful Cappadocia

Cappadocia is a real weapon of mass destruction for a tourist. And this is true - sunrises, sunsets, an alien landscape and the feeling of returning to the past, a thousand years ago. Cappadocia is a great holiday idea in Turkey and the perfect travel option for a long weekend or weeklong vacation.

Cappadocia is located in the central part of Turkey, in the region called Anatolia. The largest city in this part of the country is Kayseri, there is also an international airport that receives flights from Istanbul. From Istanbul to fly here less than an hour, from the capital of Turkey Ankara 3 hours by car. A popular but not at all interesting way to get to Cappadocia is to take a bus tour from the Antalya coast for a day or two. As for me, this is wasted money and wasted time. Firstly, because of the uncomfortable hours of bus travel, on the second day and a half, there is very little space for this. It will be much more interesting and more budgetary in general if you organize a trip to Cappadocia yourself for a few days, at least 3-5 days will be needed.

Cave hotels in Cappadocia are a local highlight. Ancient Christians lived in such caves, who escaped from Muslims in this way; in Cappadocia there are entire underground cities, including those open to tourists (See Image 1). The fact is that the terrain in Cappadocia consists of a soft rock of tuff, in which it is convenient to cut down housing. Why not live the way it was done a thousand years before us. Moreover, the filling of such hotels is quite modern, and the evening views from the veranda make you believe in magic.

Ankor Wat, Cambodia

The Angkor temple complex is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and covers an area of more than 200 square kilometers (See Image 2). Angkor was the center of the Khmer Empire that existed in the 9th-13th centuries on the territory of modern Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.Buddhist culture is conservative about dress. After naked photo shoots of tourists on the territory of the temples, a dress code has been in effect since 2016. So shorts or skirts above the knee and tank tops that do not cover the shoulders are not welcome when visiting temples.

The main temple of the complex and the reason why thousands of travelers come to Cambodia. Angkor means “city” and Wat means “temple”, so Angkor Wat literally means “City temple”. The temple was built in the 12th century during the reign of King Suryavarman II, and its construction took about 40 years.

Angkor Wat surprises. It is especially surprising that a person could create all this. Whole cities with many temples, details, bas-reliefs. The architecture is different from anything I've seen before. It's worth seeing at least once in your life.
