EcoAction Community Funding Program

We provide financial support to non-profit and non-government organizations for Canadian communities to take on local action-based projects that produce measurable, positive effects on the environment and to build the capacity of communities to sustain these activities in the future.

Overview

Requirements Applications are open to un-registered grassroots groups (both new and established), non-profits, Indigenous groups, and other community groups. You have a:
1) project plan for a mutual aid project focused on supporting your community in preparation for, during and/or after an extreme weather event, and/or
2) you have an idea for a grassroots action All projects must clearly demonstrate that activities are measurable and will result in positive environmental impacts. All projects must include:
activities that will lead to tangible environmental results within the timeframe of the project; opportunities for community members to take action; at least one (1) environmental indicator AND one (1) capacity building indicator as per the list of performance indicators listed in Annex B; and a description of how project results and engagement will be sustained after the completion of EcoAction funding.

At least 50% of the total value of your project must come from sources other than the Government of Canada. that aims to make clear the connections between intensifying extreme weather events, the climate crisis and our government’s current failure to hold polluters accountable. Your application must be made two weeks before the beginning of your project (a few exceptions may apply).
