Warren Gill Award for Community Impact - Nomination Announcement
A message on behalf of Professor Andrew Petter, president and vice-chancellor and Joanne Curry, vice-president, external relations.
SFU’s Office of Community Engagement is pleased to announce a call for nominations for the Warren Gill Award for Community Impact for 2019.
This award is named to honour the legacy of former SFU vice-president Dr. Warren Gill, who in a career spanning over thirty years helped build SFU’s definition of the university as an integral part of our community. The award is provided to a faculty or staff member that demonstrates a significant positive impact in the social, economic, environmental, and/or cultural fabric of one or more of the communities SFU serves. Faculty members, sessional lecturers, teaching staff, and administrative and support staff are eligible. In the case of an award for a project and partnership, the community partner will also be honoured.
The Warren Gill Award for Community Impact is bestowed annually if a suitable candidate is nominated. Possibilities include, but are not limited to, expanding SFU’s community connections, building respectful and mutually beneficial SFU-community relationships, increasing opportunities for dialogue, strengthening opportunities for experiential learning, and informing and inspiring important research.
For more information about the Warren Gill Award for Community Impact and to nominate members of the SFU community for this award, please see https://www.sfu.ca/communityengagement/warren-gill.html. The deadline for submission is Friday, November 8, 2019.
