Tim Rahilly, SFU's vice-provost and associate vice-president, students and international, has been named president of Mount Royal University in Calgary for a five-year term beginning May 1, 2019.

Rahilly, who joined SFU in 2003, has served in his current role since 2010, working to understand and support students. Among his most important achievements was an extensive collaboration with a variety of SFU departments, as well as the Faculty Association and student governments, to develop a comprehensive sexual violence policy.

Since 2011, he has also served as a faculty associate for the Faculty of Education, a position that includes teaching and supervising graduate students. An active member of the student affairs profession, he is the current president of the Canadian Association of College & University Student Services (CACUSS) and previously served as a faculty member for the Canadian Institute on Student Affairs and Services (CISAS).

In addition to these many achievements, Rahilly has consistently fostered a collaborative, student-centred approach while building long-lasting and often transformative relationships with students, student organizations and colleagues across SFU.

Says Peter Keller, SFU’s vice-president, academic, “On behalf of everyone at SFU, congratulations to Tim on this significant and richly deserved appointment at Mount Royal University.”
