Plans to block news posting/sharing on Facebook & Instagram:
SFU School of Communication professor Peter Chow-White can address the implications of Meta’s announcement that it will soon block Canadians from accessing and sharing news on Facebook and Instagram. The social media giant’s decision is in response to Bill C-18, Canada’s Online News Act, a new Canadian law that would force both Meta and Google to pay media outlets for news content. There are hints that Google may consider taking action as well.
