How Data Object Locking Works in your Programming Environment

The SAS/SHARE lock manager enables multiple clients to share the same SAS file at the same time. The server's ability to manage multi-client access of selected data objects hinges on a complex set of locking rules that are affected by many factors. Locking considerations must be addressed for each programming product (both SAS products and other products) that you use to write applications to access data through the SAS/SHARE server.
