SAS/CONNECT User's Guide

Introduction

A script is a SAS program stored in a file on the local host. However, the programming statements in a script are not the usual SAS programming statements. Instead, scripts use a specialized set of SAS statements called script statements. Scripts are executed to initiate or terminate SAS/CONNECT sessions. Scripts that initiate the connection are executed by submitting the SIGNON statement, and scripts that terminate the connection are executed by submitting the SIGNOFF statement. In most cases, the same script is used to sign on and sign off.
