Biography
M. Nasir Tighsazzadeh (he/him) is a Ph.D. student at Simon Fraser University in the field of Resource and Environmental Management. He earned a Master of Regional Planning from Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) and a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from Yazd University in Iran. During his time at SBU, he presented his thesis focused on integrated coastal zone management. Additionally, he contributed as a research assistant on a project related to the blue economy. His work involved investigating marine and coastal economic activities, as well as exploring strategies to alleviate multi-dimensional poverty in coastal regions. As a doctoral student and a member of the Ocean Nexus Center, his research investigates the interconnection between social sustainability and marine renewable energy in achieving ocean equity. This involves promoting fair distribution of benefits and burdens and fostering inclusive development of marine renewable energy in coastal regions.
In his free time, Nasir likes listening to music, hiking, swimming, and reading!
