Abstract:

Many industrial operations require high-quality water for their processes, and these same processes often contribute to significant water pollution through effluents. It is, thus, vital to promote sustainable water consumption in industries through treatment and recycling. This seminar presents research conducted in response to these industrial challenges. We have developed polymeric functional materials and membranes for water treatment with applications in the energy, mining, and health sectors. These materials and membranes have demonstrated their efficiency through regeneration, desalination, washability, removal of contaminants, higher flux, lower energy requirements, and antifouling capabilities. Experimental results have also been validated through models that assess the performance of these materials. The potential industrial applications of these materials and membrans in water-intensive industries will be discussed. The research also highlights the role of these materials in achieving regulatory compliance with water treatment standards.
