Why Idle No More with First Nations Chief Satsan
The SFU Beedie School of Business and SFU Public Square are honoured to co-host Satsan (Herb George), hereditary chief of the Frog Clan of the Wet’suwet’en Nation, as he discusses the Idle No More movement, as well as meaningful changes in the past and future for Canada’s Aboriginal peoples.
Idle No More is an ongoing protest movement originating among Canada’s First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples. It is gathering support from the non-Aboriginal population in Canada, and internationally. The movement promotes indigenous sovereignty and seeks to protect water, air, land and all creation for future generations.

Satsan (Herb George)
An SFU alumnus, Satsan has been President of the National Centre for First Nations Governance, an important organization recently closed due to funding cuts.
Satsan has served as Speaker for both the Gitxsan and the Wet’suwet’en Nations. He has a long history of dealing with Aboriginal rights and title, as well as Aboriginal self-government and education, and served two three-year terms as the elected BC Regional Chief for the Assembly of First Nations.
