Description: A large scale example of a scattering experiment.
12 ten pin bowling balls are suspended in a frame, four columns of three balls. Throw tennis balls at them in a somewhat random manner. Note the number of tennis balls that hit and the number that pass through the frame without hitting a bowling ball. If a quantitative demo is desired measure the area of the frame and use the scattering statistics to calculate the diameter of a bowling ball. (Ten pin balls are 8.5 inches in diameter).
Cautions: The bowling balls are heavy.
