Welcome to the IRM
The Squeezed ETBs between another MVRTA Flyer and Milwaukee 269 are Chicago 9553, 84 and 193.
CSL #84 (left) needs a complete set of headlights. If you know of any available, please help. Contact the IRM Trolley Bus Department.
The cardboard sign on Chicago 9631's dash was made by trolley coach guru Russell Schultz for CTA's final trolley coach run. The sign is now older than 9631 was (in 1973) when it was retired!
CTA 9631 pulls out onto "Central Avenue."
Compare Marmon-Herrington 9631's windshield and front bumper to M&ST 441's. Chicago trolley coaches carried license plates. Milwaukee's trackless trolleys did not.
Note the shadow of the specialwork on the side of 9631.
Trolley Bus Department volunteers are replacing rusted panels on Dayton Pullman-Standard 435. A nice 1967 photo of sister coach 436 can be viewed in the Dayton section of this website in the "R. Hill Collection."
Note the streetcar loop shelter
to the right of 435 (background.)
The loop serves as a genuine working "circulator" and distributes
visitors to various locations within the vast confines of the Illinois
Railway Museum.
DesMoines ACF-Brill 239 sports a beautiful new blue and white paint job.
A study in contrast: Des Moines 239 and Dayton 925. Note 925's roof mounted air conditioner.
1940 Twin Coach 633 at IRM. It was originally bought by the Seattle Transit
