What about our democracy?

By now you might be saying, “This is all very fine and dandy, but does this affect democracy in any way?”
Are we compromising our basic tenets of democracy because of a media-saturated generation’s unwillingness to get informed?
Is the entertainment, advertising, corporate lead consumer culture taking over democratic culture!?
Can democracy survive....
